Upcoming Dates

The month of October is a very important month in Oregon FIRST Robotics. In addition to the normal club meetings, we also have 3 events over the course of the month. First, on Saturday the 15th, there is FIRST Fare, which is a conference where veteran teams show other teams how to build a team and a robot, and many other things important to FIRST Robotics. Every member should attend if possible. It is at Catlin Gabel School, and runs from about 9 am til about 4 pm. We will discuss this more at Club on Thursday.

On Saturday the 22nd, there is the OMSI Demonstration, where we send robots and run a small competition. This runs for most of the day, and more details will appear in the next week or so.

Finally, on Saturday the 29th, there is Girls Generation. This is an all girls scrimmage hosted by Catlin Gabel. This is a great way to get girls interested in robotics, and get them more involved in the technical side of a robotics team. The more girls that can come the better, and in the next few weeks for club we will be setting up for this even.

To both OMSI and Girls Generation we will be taking both of last years robots and using both of them in the scrimmages.

See you all at Club next week.

Club and Kinect

So todays club went very well. We got a lot of interested people, and think we got some good new programmers.
In other (better) news, the Microsoft Kinect will be included in the 2012 Kit of Parts. That is going to be very interesting.

Back to School Night

Today Westview High School had back to school night, which gave us a chance to promote robotics and show to parents what we can do. It went very well. Also, i got a chance to test some code for our robot, and both things i wanted to try worked. i was able to stop our arm from flipping over the top, and i was able to get the Robot to drive perfectly straight in a straight line. Sweet.
